When it comes to ultra-high force requirements and harsh environmental conditions, not many models of actuators that can handle these demanding applications come with feedback options available. That’s why we developed the PA-HD3A-HS Hall Heavy Duty Linear Actuator—our most powerful electric linear actuator with feedback. Designed with industrial performance in mind, this actuator offers exceptional load capacity, an IP67 actuator ingress protection, and advanced safety and protection features to pair with the Hall effect feedback. In this article, we will cover highlights of what the new PA-HD3A-HS hall effect linear actuator can offer, while exploring its benefits, specs, and real-world applications.

Design Features That Set the PA-HD3A-HS Apart

High Protection Materials and Outdoor Suitable Ratings

The PA-HD3A-HS Hall Effect Linear Actuator offers the highest force ratings in our lineup of electric linear actuators with feedback for positional control in an ACME screw design. The IP67 linear actuator's ingress protection rating provides an outdoor-rated actuator able to withstand exposure to dust and water submersion while static in harsh environments. An operating temperature range of -40°C to 65°C ensures dependable performance in the PA-HD3A-HS actuator for extreme environments.

High Load Capabilities & Safety Features

The stainless steel shaft, aluminum housing, and metal gears allow it to push and pull up to 2698 lbs and hold up to 3372 lbs. Similar to the non-feedback version, all our variants of the PA-HD3 overload protection actuator also come with a built-in electric shutoff, which triggers at 25 A (12 V). As a manual override actuator, users can still change stroke positions in the event of an electrical power outage. For the full details on the force and speed ratings available in the different voltage options we offer, check out the PA-HD3 user manual

For our PA-HD3A-HS hall effect linear actuator, they can be selected to have either a 12 VDC brushed DC motor or a 24 VDC brushed DC motor, depending on which input voltage you prefer to work with. Stroke can be selected from a range of 4" to 24" off the shelf, depending on the space restrictions of your application and how much of a travel distance you require from the actuator. Custom orders can be manufactured up to a 40" stroke length. Limit switches are non-adjustable; however, all stroke length options will come with magnetic sensor limit switches built in for added safety to help prevent damage from over-extending and over-retracting.

Compatibility Through Simple Operation

The PA-HD3A-HS heavy-duty linear actuator features a 2-wire brushed DC motor for simple operation through a Molex Mega-Fit 2-Pin Receptacle at the end of the cable. This allows easy integration with existing systems across multiple applications and industries, simplifying the installation process. When fully loaded to its force rating, the standard 12 VDC model has a current draw of up to 20.8 A; however, the 24 VDC models draw no more than 11.0 A and are suitable for use with the electrical current ratings found in some of our rocker switches

Hall Effect Sensor Customization for Positional Feedback

Hall Effect Sensor CustomizationThe PA-HD3A-HS Ultra High Force IP67 Actuator comes with hall effect sensor feedback through a Mini-Fit Jr 4-Pin Receptacle at the end of the cable for applications that require advanced control capabilities. Hall effect sensors can be used to read positional feedback information and become especially beneficial for use cases that require synchronized linear actuators.

The high-force linear actuator is compatible with the PA-CB41-2-12V24V when paired with the appropriate wiring harness and power supplies. With each controller and control box comes a wide range of control options useful for whatever project you have in mind. Take a look at our relays and control systems page for a full list of options.

*Please note that the PA-HD3A-HS is not rated for shock or pulse loads.

Mounting Brackets

Mounting Brackets brk-17

The BRK-17 brackets, designed for our variety of heavy-duty linear actuators, are compatible with the PA-HD3A-HS and allow for a simple installation process on the stroke rod and motor-end mounting points. The bracket has high durability and allows 180 degrees of rotation for your application. For more detailed information and specifications, please see our mounting brackets product page.
