Scholarship 2025: Automation for a Sustainable Future

At Progressive Automations, we’re passionate about empowering the next generation of innovators. Through our Progressive Impact initiative, we support projects that inspire creativity, promote learning, and make a positive difference in the world.

In 2025, we awarded scholarships to three outstanding engineering students from Canada and the US for their innovative ideas that combine automation and sustainability. Their projects showcased how smart technologies can shape a greener, more efficient future — exactly the kind of impact we aim to support.

Mechatronics Engineering

"I want to create autonomous or remotely operated robots that clean up litter and pollution in places unsafe for people. This technology could assist in hazardous environments like oil spills, areas with poor air quality, or neighborhood parks. One day, I hope to scale these ideas to underwater robots removing trash from oceans to help preserve marine ecosystems."

Electrical Engineering

"I have a clear vision for my future path in this field. I aspire to be an experienced engineer, contributing to innovative electric vehicle and robotics projects. My focus lies in embedded systems and firmware development, fields where I can combine my technical expertise with my creative drive to design solutions that
address real-world challenges."

Electrical & Computer Engineering

"I picture myself creating diagnostic tools for clinics in rural areas, places where electricity is unreliable, and doctors need quick, simple answers. I dream of building educational platforms that speak
to students who think in different languages. The gap between what tech can do and what people actually need motivates me deeply."

But we're not stopping there!

If you have a project idea aligned with our social responsibility goals, we’d still love to hear from you. Whether you're just getting started or ready to bring your concept to life, we're open to sponsoring meaningful student-led initiatives that drive positive change through automation.

YOUR PROJECT

Unleash your creativity and problem-solving skills to make a real difference! Show us how your project will bring about a lasting impact and transform lives.

Energy Efficiency & Green Automation

Explore how automation can reduce energy consumption and environmental impact across various applications. This could include smart home technologies that optimize lighting, heating, or shading systems, or automated systems in industrial settings that reduce waste, lower emissions, or optimize production.

Sustainable Manufacturing

Demonstrate how robotics, machine learning, or AI can support more eco-friendly manufacturing processes — your project should show how intelligent automation can lead to greener factories and responsible production practices.

Smart Cities & Future Homes

Consider applications like smart infrastructure, responsive energy grids, or sensor-based systems that reduce water and energy waste. You should present a vision for how automated technologies can help shape the future of sustainable urban living, whether through public services, mobility, or intelligent buildings.
