WHY CHOOSE AN ELECTRIC TRACK LINEAR ACTUATOR?

As motion is achieved by moving along a track, our track linear actuators are rodless; they have the advantage of travelling the same distance as a standard actuator but without altering the dimensions of the device.
RODLESS

When implementing these linear actuators with a track into your project, the length and width of your actuator is fixed, allowing you to set fixed mounting points for your application that won’t be deviated from.

Ranging from 2” to 60” in our PA-18 model, this long stroke electric track linear actuator has a wide scope of strokes to suit a large variety of applications.

POPULAR TRACK LINEAR ACTUATOR APPLICATIONS

Track linear actuators are quite popular in the robotics field, particularly in robotic manufacturing systems thanks to their fixed positioning. These actuators can be integrated into multiple areas of the manufacturing system where fixed distance is required, for instance moving goods from one stage to the next. They can also be integrated into smart whiteboards or bookshelves for offices, schools and libraries, utilizing their sliding motion for optimum use of space.

Thanks to its fixed dimensions, DIY projects integrate electric track actuators when vertical or horizontal motion is required along a predefined path. As the dimensions of the actuator will not be affected to achieve this motion, these are an attractive option for DIY projects, as it gives them the ease of a set width. One such project that utilized our PA-18 is the DonutBot, where a group of students created an automated donut creation station.

Thanks to its fixed mounting and track design, our linear track actuators are perfect for home applications such as TV lifts for vertical motion. Horizontal motion can also be achieved in automated sliding doors, dressers, cabinetry, and so on. Go further with your automation in applications such as curtain rails that can be programmed using an Arduino microcontroller – utilize a small track actuator to time the opening and closing of them each morning and night!

OUR TRACK LINEAR ACTUATORS
In comparison to all our other linear actuator types, our track linear actuators are the most different in their physical design. Instead of a push rod or stroke extending and retracting from the housing of a linear actuator, track linear actuators run along a fixed carriage or ‘track’ that has a predefined path for force. This key difference in their methods of motion are what make track linear actuators so unique and therefore, quite specific in the types of applications they can be integrated with. They are particularly compatible with indoor applications due to their low IP rating however, a key advantage for these actuators is their fixed mounting points, for projects that have set dimensions. Our catalog has both a mini track actuator in the PA-08 and also wide stroke ranges from 2” to 60” in our PA-18. Feedback is also optional for these linear actuators, giving you further positional control when operating.
