Description
PA-40 Specifications

The PA-40 control box allows for synchronous control of two linear actuators with hall effect feedback. Using the RF remote provided, users have the ability to extend, stop, and retract their synchronized actuators from up to 30-50 feet away (open air). The control box has both momentary and non-momentary capabilities as well as an in-line fuse to protect against short circuits.

Using the included wire harness, connect the linear actuators to the control box. Apply 12VDC across the power wires and the system is now ready to use. It is important to ensure that the power supply has a sufficient amperage rating to control the linear actuators. The PA-40 is designed to handle a maximum of 10A per channel.

Please see the PA-40 Data Sheet for information about controls, wiring, and troubleshooting.

* Parallel control of linear actuators at 12 VDC.

* Only compatible with 12 VDC hall effect type actuators. Controls 2 matching Hall Effect actuators simultaneously to travel the same speed together in the same direction. Ensure PA-04-HS actuators are not fully loaded to stay within the current rating.

FAQ
How does the PA-40 achieve synchronized motion between two Hall Effect actuators and what conditions must be met?

The PA-40 synchronization process counts Hall pulses from each actuator and balances the PWM output being supplied to power the motors to keep both actuators at the same speed. Use the same-model hall effect actuators with equal stroke, voltage, and force ratings for best results.

What are the compatibility requirements for actuators used with the PA-40 control box?

The PA-40 is a 12V hall effect actuator only control box that handles up to 10A per channel of 2 matching actuators with brushed DC motors.

What power supply specifications are recommended to ensure stable performance of the PA-40 at 10 A per channel?

Select a 12 VDC power supply sized for 20A of current draw to meet the actuator power requirements of your setup at 10 A per channel.

How can users switch between momentary and non-momentary control modes on the PA-40?

Changing actuator control settings for momentary and non-momentary modes requires access inside the enclosure. Once you have access, follow the steps below:

Momentary Mode

  • Ensure the Jumper M2 on the PCB is connected to the PCB
  • Hold UP or DOWN to go forward or backward
  • Release UP or DOWN to stop

Non-Momentary Mode

  • Ensure the Jumper M1 on the PCB is disconnected
  • Press UP or DOWN to go forward or backward
  • Press UP or DOWN again to stop
What are the safety limitations of the PA-40, and what happens if actuators exceed load or current rating?

The PA-40 has a duty cycle of 10% (2 minutes on, 18 minutes off) and can handle up to 10A per channel. For short circuit protection, the PA-40 safety fuse comes installed in the included wire harness. The operation stops and enters an error state when an overheat condition exceeds the duty cycle or an out-of-sync condition occurs. Remove the cause, allow cooling if needed, then restore power and do a reset procedure as needed.

Awesome product.

Awesome product. I wish there was an option for a single gang wall switch with programmable stop.
